    Kapilina Community Yard Sale

    September 18, 2019

A man looking at the merchandise at a yard sale

We all know that the Kapilina Beach Homes come together when it’s time for a community event. That time is nearly upon us yet again, this time, in the form of the Kapilina Community Yard Sale! Taking place on September 28th, from 8:00AM to 12:00PM, and it’s open to the public, so anyone can come take a look at the items that are for sale. There’s still time to prepare, so today, we figured we’d offer up a few tips on what it takes to have a successful yard sale for everyone.

    Gather Your Best Goods

One of the great things about yard sales is that they give you an opportunity to clear out plenty of stuff from your home that are no longer useful and you no longer need. That doesn’t mean they won’t provide value to someone else, though, so be sure to scour everything in your home and take note of what has to go and what people might want to purchase. You might be surprised: old USB cables, chargers, and other tiny knickknacks might not seem to be of much significance, but they’re taking up space in your home and there just might be someone out there who wants them.

You’ll Need Supplies for the Sale

It’s not like you can just throw all your unwanted items out on the curb and expect people to buy them. You’ve got to make it presentable, but at the same time, you don’t want to break the bank getting ready. Now it’s time to improvise. You can use the tables and chairs in your home, for instance, instead of heading out to get folding tables (if you don’t already have them). Alternatively, you can throw a board over some milk crates and use some old clothes racks to help you display items. It might not seem like much, but it goes a long way in making your wares presentable to any potential customers.

    Money Talks

Now, you’ll need to set the prices for your items. You may have seen people throw a bunch of items into one box and just slap a price on the box that’s meant to stand for all those items, but this is a rookie move. A better strategy would be to individually price all of your items, making it easier for people to know what you’re selling them for should things start to get disorganized. Trust us, with all the hustle and bustle, it’s easy for that to happen, so it pays to be prepared!
