    Benefits of Off Base Housing

    May 7, 2019

Kapilina waterfront beach homes for military families - off-base Housing for Schofield Barracks

Being a family in the military certainly has its advantages and disadvantages. It shouldn’t be a disadvantage finding a suitable place for your family to call home when stationed in West Oahu. Kapilina has a long history of providing convenient and comfortable living for members of the military. Click here to see a map of the nearby bases.

We understand there are a lot of factors that help a family determine whether to live inside or outside the base gates, and it definitely isn’t a one size fits all. Kapilina is an easy choice for off base housing for those stationed at Schofield Barracks due to its base proximity, ease to schools and shopping, beach-front property and luxury home amenities.

At Kapilina, we love our military service members! We offer additional benefits to any active duty members of our military. Apply today and receive waived application fees for the entire household*

In addition to waived fees, we support and sponsor events for the following organizations:

    • USVets Barbers Point
    • AMVets
    • Vet Center – West Oahu
    • Wounded Warrior Project
    • Team Red, White & Blue

    Testimonials:

Being a military family constantly on the move is difficult. Being a military family moving across an entire country and an ocean was even more difficult. We did a lot of research before coming to Oahu, so we already had Kapilina in mind as our number one place to check out that was not base housing. We were offered a house 6 years ago, and we have been living in here ever since. The community felt very safe to me and knowing that my husband was going to be gone most of the time, that was very important to me. The elementary school also had much better ratings than the schools on the bases so that was another factor in our decision to live here. My daughter has now attended all 3 schools zoned for Kapilina (Iroquois, Ilima, and Campbell) and we have had great experiences with all of them. There are so many great things to do in this neighborhood for families and for people without children as well. As far as traffic goes, I work on JBPHH and commute via kayak and bicycle. There are a lot of other people who do that as well, so don't let the drive turn you away from living here.

I am so thankful to be living at Kapilina. I grew up here. I started at the elementary school in the third grade. What I liked most about living here is the wide open spaces, the events, and entertainment that were provided but mostly, the safety of riding my bike around the neighborhood and going to the beach.

As an adult, I left to pursue my dream of being in service to our country. A few years later, I had the opportunity to be stationed in Hawaii and knew I wanted to return to Kapilina. I've been back a year and love the upgrades and amenities provided. I enjoy the craft and fitness classes, the community center but mostly the new fitness center. With the farmer's market, NEX shop and gas, classes and resident's services I'm able have most everything right here at home!
